What is Metabolic Conditioning?

At Core Strength Fitness one of our most popular classes is metabolic conditioning. But what exactly is metabolic conditioning and why is it SO effective?

Metabolic conditioning is an umbrella term that contains types of training that might be more familiar to you: high-intensity interval training (HIIT) and circuit training and maybe the less familiar “hybrid training” (combining two movements such as RDL to rows or curl to press).  Our members love the results they see from this class because in a short 45-minute session a few times per week they are building muscle, burning fat, and improving their conditioning.

Metabolic training is proven to burn more calories than conventional cardio training both during the workout and long after.  Not only does metabolic training burn more calories leading to better weight or fat loss results but leads to strength and muscle gains as well. Weight training is a huge part of metabolic training. We use compound movements such as squats, deadlifts, and push-ups to ensure that you are reaping all of the strength, fitness, and fat loss benefits of metabolic conditioning.

Our programming is designed in house and there is a new workout every day, never to be repeated. We have extremely high levels of consistency and retention in our gym because there is no such thing as workout boredom when it comes to metabolic conditioning.

Core Strength Fitness only promotes scientifically based nutrition and fitness regimens. Metabolic conditioning has a huge body of research that indicates metabolic training leads to greater fat loss, higher growth hormone (the muscle-building hormone), increased resting metabolic rate (how many calories you burn at rest), and increased muscle glycogen (stored carbohydrate) which decreases insulin production (your fat storage hormone).  So not only does metabolic training help you lose also helps prevent you from storing additional fat!
